Coastal memory

Here, at the foot of Fresco’s cliffs, history tells the origin of a name.

According to the story, Dutch explorers discovered an immense elephant graveyard here, containing thousands of ivory tusks. They called the shore Tandkust — the Coast of Teeth. From this name came Ivory Coast, then Côte d’Ivoire. Staying in Fresco means sleeping where the country received its name.

A living culture

Fresco lies at the heart of Godié country, and Koyiri carries its memory. Culture is not displayed behind glass here: it is lived through language, welcoming gestures, weaving and the relationship with water — Gôglè lagoon, the Bolo and Gnougnoro rivers, and the ocean.
